Famous Strood home, thanks to Emily Thornberry, waves flag ahead of England World Cup match

England fan Dan Ware, who four years ago was at the centre of a political storm for displaying the St George's Cross outside his house, is flying the flag again.

The patriotic father-of four found himself in the national spotlight after Emily Thornberry , the former shadow attorney general, caused offence in a tweet.

Ms Thornberry posted a picture of his home with his white van parked outside with the wording "Image from # Rochester".

It sparked a backlash making newspaper headlines and, after a dressing down from Labour leader Ed Milliband, she resigned.

At the time Dan, a cage fighter working in the motor trade, said he had never heard of Ms Thornberry but described her as a "snob"

Ms Thornberry had been campaigning for her party in the Rochester and Strood by-election in November 2014.

But it did not put off Dan,40, whose terrace house in Southwark Road, Strood is now ablaze with England flags .

Dan. dubbed "White Van Man" said : "I'm not a gambling man. But this World Cup has been crazy so far and I think we are going to win. I believe 'It's coming home'"

He said his white van has since "died a death" but he still has two flags on his car.
