Woman who died from injuries sustained in Balmoral Road near Gillingham Train Station named locally

A woman who died after sustaining injuries on a street near Gillingham Railway Station has been named locally as Lisa Lancaster.

Police were called to Balmoral Road in Gillingham at 12.10pm on December 13 where the injured woman was found.

She was taken to a Kent hospital for emergency treatment, but by the time she arrived, there was nothing medical staff could do to save her - according to police.

Floral tributes were left at the scene opposite the station.

One included the message: "R.I.P. Lisa. A great lady taken to [sic] soon. Sweet dreams."

A 44-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault, but has subsequently been released due to a lack of evidence.

She is still helping police with their inquiries as a witness.

No information has currently been released on the type of injuries Ms Lancaster sustained.

Several ambulances were called to the incident including the air ambulance which landed in playing fields opposite Medway Park.
