Strood: Woman flees house fire

An elderly woman fled her home this afternoon after a fire broke out.

The blaze at the terraced house in Lincoln Close, Strood, is thought to have been sparked by a faulty tumble dryer.

Firefighters from Strood and Rochester spent an hour and a half tackling the blaze which broke out at about 2.15pm.

The top floor was damaged by the flames and the ground floor was affected by smoke.

There were no injuries.
