An elderly woman fled her home this afternoon after a fire broke out.
The blaze at the terraced house in Lincoln Close, Strood, is thought to have been sparked by a faulty tumble dryer.
Firefighters from Strood and Rochester spent an hour and a half tackling the blaze which broke out at about 2.15pm.
The top floor was damaged by the flames and the ground floor was affected by smoke.
There were no injuries.
