Teenager brought to safety after threatening to jump off the top of a multi-storey car park in Chatham

A woman threatened to jump off the top of a multi-storey car park in The Brook yesterday evening.

The young woman, who has not been named but is thought to be a teenager, was seen standing on the wrong side of the railings of the Medway Council car park at the Pentagon Shopping Centre, in Chatham, at about 6pm.

Officers were called out to the road and closed it in both directions between The Brook Theatre and the Halfords store in Batchelor Street, Chatham, while they tried to talk her down.

She was successfully brought to safety and the road was reopened at about 6.20pm.
