Maidstone man arrested after woman treated after suspicious fire in Scholars Rise in Strood

A man has been arrested after a fire that left a woman in her 20s needing treatment for breathing in smoke.
 
Crews in two fire engines were called to a flat in Scholars Rise at just after 2.30am yesterday.
 
They used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the fire, in which a woman breathed in smoke.

A 32-year-old Maidstone man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and was taken into police custody.
