X Factor finalists Kingsland Road and Tamera Foster hope to secure place to next stage of show

Fans throughout Kent are holding their breath as two acts face the judges - and the vote - in tonight's X Factor live show.

Last night, girl group Miss Dynamix got the least votes and will perform in tonight's sing-off.

But with another place still to be filled, Kent's hopefuls are hoping once again they will survive the public vote.

Tamera Foster, from Gravesend, sang Beyonce's Listen, while group Kingsland Road, featuring Josh Zare from Maidstone, performed Oh, Pretty Woman.

Last night, betting firm William Hill put Tamera as evens favourite to win the show.

Last weekend was particularly tense for Josh as he was left fighting for his place on The X Factor.

Kingsland Road came bottom in the flash vote after their performance of Marry You by Bruno Mars.

They had been tipped to be the next big boyband and were compared to the show's previous contestants One Direction, but were left fighting for their survival on the show after the shock announcement on Saturday's show.

They went up against Shelley Smith in the sing-off, her second time in the bottom two in just two shows.

But the lads were saved by the judges, after an emotionally charged performance of Pink's Try.

The deciding vote fell on Louis Walsh, who said he saw more potential in the band than van driver diva Shelley.

Meanwhile, Gravesend's Tamera Foster was labelled a “superstar” by judges as she flew through to the next stage.

The teenager performed Emeli Sande’s ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ on the ITV singing contest.

Taking place in front of a live studio audience in London, the theme on last week’s show was love and heartbreak.

The 16-year-old impressed judges with her flawless performance of Sande’s ballad, with Gary Barlow in particular gushing over her rendition.

The former Take That singer compared Tamera to the global pop stars that perform on the Sunday episodes of the show.

He said:”I think for the first time tonight, the public are really going to see what we’ve all seen as judges and that’s a superstar on the stage.”

Nicole Scherzinger, the judge in charge of Tamera’s ‘the girls’ category, was also impressed with the singer’s performance.

She said: “That was bellissimo, it was just beautiful. You know what I loved about that performance, is that it was so controlled and less was more and the intro was just as powerful as your big high notes, it was gorgeous.”

This week's show starts at 8pm on ITV, with acts choosing songs from the movies.
