Man denies shooting Strood father Xhem Krasniqi dead in Hove street

A man has appeared in court today where he denied shooting a Strood father-of-two dead in the street.

Edmund Nela, 31, of no fixed address in Brighton, pleading not guilty to murdering Xhem Krasniqi in Hove on May 18.

Mr Krasniqi, 31, an Albanian national, was with family when he was blasted in Church Road late at night.

The scaffolder died in hospital in the early hours of the next day.

Nela, extradited from Italy, denied one count of murder, two of attempted murder and one of possessing a firearm – all in relation to the same incident.

He was remanded in custody for a trial, the date of which has not yet been set but is likely to last 15 days.
