Gillingham target Amari’i Bell has joined League 1 rivals Fleetwood.

The left-back was released by Birmingham at the end of the season and Gills boss Justin Edinburgh had previously spoken of his desire to capture the left-back on a permanent deal.

Bell spent the latter stages of the 2014/15 campaign on loan with the Gills, making seven appearances.

Edinburgh has yet to announce any senior arrivals, with youngsters Elliott List and Emmanuel Osadebe the only new signings since the end of their campaign.

Bell said: "I’m excited to have signed a contract, and can’t wait to come back for pre-season and get started.

"I’ve heard a lot of good things about Fleetwood. I like the direction the club is going in and I’m really impressed with it.

"The training ground is being built, I’m really impressed with that so I’m going to be able to come here and develop as a better player and improve."
