A Gillingham XI visit Chatham Town as the Maidstone Road side turn on their newly installed floodlights

Chatham will be hosting a youthful looking Gillingham side in their pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

Promising young striker Noel Mbo is set for another run-out for the Gills while keeper Tom Hadler is also likely to get an opportunity to impress.

Fellow young pros Darren Oldaker, Bradley Stevenson, Finn O’Mara, Aaron Simpson and Ben Chapman are all expected to be involved from the off.

Second year scholar Jack Tucker will hope to remain a part of it, having already featured in Gillingham’s early pre-season games.

Trialist striker Liam Nash is unlikely to feature, however. The former Maldon & Tiptree frontman scored 37 goals last season, including a 20-minute hat-trick and played for the Gills at Dover on Saturday.

Despite Nash's absence, it's believed he is still on the radar of head coach Ady Pennock.

The Gills boss is likely to include several of his senior players in the side for a game which marks the opening of Chatham Town’s newly installed floodlights.

Gillingham were the opponents the last time Chatham installed a set of lights, back in February 1980.

Chatham dropped down to the Southern Counties East league following relegation last season but have a new chairman.

Medway man Kevin Hake, a former Gills youth player, said: “Special thanks to Peter Taylor (director of football) and Gillingham for fitting us in their busy pre season campaign. We look forward to building further ties between the clubs in the future.”

Those Gillingham players not involved on Tuesday will still be at Maidstone Road to watch the game.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and admission prices are £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 for under-16s.
