Flair player Kane Phillips has been added to the Chatham Town squad ahead of the new campaign.

Phillips arrives after spending much of pre-season on trial with Ryman League, Division 1 South side Folkestone Invicta.

He played against Chatham in a friendly and Chats boss Kevin Watson liked what he saw.

“He’s a flair player, he’s direct, he’s young, fearless and quick,” said Watson. “He’s 20 and looks a good prospect.

“Folkestone manager Neil Cugley felt he would get more chance at our place because they already have a few forwards.”

Also agreeing to play for Chats this season is forward Luke Medley. The former Bradford, Barnet and Mansfield striker had been on trial with the Maidstone Road club.

Watson hopes the pair will help finish off some of the chances the team has been wasting in pre-season.

Chatham begin their Ryman League, Division 1 North season at home to Dereham Town on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
