Chatham boxer Grant Dennis thrilled to have won the British Classic Challenge super-middleweight belt at Medway Park

Chatham’s Grant Dennis was lost for words when he lifted the British Classic Challenge super-middleweight belt at Medway Park on Saturday.

Dennis beat Sheffield’s Wayne Reed on points to take the title in his fifth professional bout.

“I can’t describe it,” said the 32-year-old. “My children jumped into the ring and it was just a tremendous occasion.

“Seeing them running in, words can’t describe how I felt.

“It was just a good moment in my life and incredibly satisfying knowing I’d made everyone proud – my coach, team, family and friends.”

The fight may have gone the distance but Dennis was always confident.

He said: “He was a tough guy and he definitely came to get that belt. But I was a little too sharp for him.

“I thought I was running away with the rounds. I was getting more success and the cleaner work was coming from me.

“He’s a experienced guy, he forced it and I had to dig in. It was a brilliant night of boxing and love representing Medway in a positive way. I’d like to thank everyone who supported me.”
