Grant Dennis is destined for big things ahead of his Mote Park Destruction bout

Kent fight fans should enjoy Grant Dennis while they can.

The Medway boxer (5-0-0) tops the bill when he fights Jan Balog of the Czech Republic (10-28-1) for the international challenge middleweight title at Maidstone Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Promoter Joe Elfidh believes Dennis is destined for big things and claims Southern Area champion Nicky Jenman is running scared.

Elfidh said: “Grant’s been a nightmare to match – no one wants to fight him.

“Nicky Jenman, the Southern Area champion, refused a good wage because he knows Grant would have too much.

“He’s only had five fights but he’s a handful.

“I’ve put my application in to the board for Grant to fight for the Southern Area. Jenman’s allowed one voluntary defence, then the board will decide.

“He can’t avoid Grant unless he vacates the belt, which I think is what he will do. Fair play if he does fight Grant but I can’t see it.

“I’m looking for bigger fights for Grant now, so this might be his last fight in Kent.”

While Dennis is hot favourite to beat Balog over eight rounds, the Maidstone undercard includes an intriguing battle between two unbeaten super-lightweights, with Strood’s Louis Greene (3-0-0) up against Bilal Rehman (4-0-0).

Elfidh said: “This is a genuine 50-50 fight. It’s going to be one hell of a fight. One them will lose their undefeated record.

“It’s one of those where you can’t pick a winner but I do think Louis will have too much for him.”

Tickets are available on the door at Maidstone Leisure Centre, priced £35. Doors open at 6pm.
