Double house fire in Earl Close, Walderslade

Firefighters were called to a pair of semi-detached houses in Earl Close, Walderslade, after roof space in one of the properties caught fire.

It is believed the blaze happened just after 10am today and no one was hurt.

Firefighters across two crews used four fire engines and a height vehicle at the scene and tackled the fire with cutting equipment and hoses.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Walderslade resident Chris Pickett said: "Firefighters did a very good job of preventing the fire spreading out of control to the other residences.

"This is a very small close where all the houses are in close proximity to each other. It is believed that the owner of one of the houses was out at the time of the fire."
