Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh is in no rush to make his first signing.

Edinburgh has been in the job for three weeks but has so far kept faith with the squad assembled by his predecessors.

With the loan transfer window open, he could bring in new faces if desired.

He said: “What is the case at the moment, is making sure I have seen everyone competitively in and around the first team and that I have given everyone a fair crack.

"Right now I think we have the right blend and the right quantity but things can change and personnel in other areas in other clubs become available.”

There are players on the fringe of the first team who Edinburgh is keeping a close eye on and he’s also reluctant to let players head out on loan.

He said: “Maybe one or two of the youngsters (could go out) but we are not blessed with the biggest of squads.

“We would be causing ourselves a bit of a headache if we were to allow some senior players, that aren’t getting in at the moment, to go out. We would only have to replace them and what I know is that the group I have here are reliable and I trust them.”
