Manager Justin Edinburgh insists Gillingham are taking the Kent Reliance Senior Cup final seriously.

Gills have been represented throughout the competition by Mark Patterson's development side, knocking out Dartford, Tonbridge and Margate en route to the final.

They face Charlton at Priestfield on Thursday, bidding to win the county cup for the first time since 1948.

Edinburgh said: "We’ve got to the final now and we want to win it.

"We’ll be taking the match very seriously and we’ll put the strongest team out that we can although we don’t want to stifle the young boys that have got us to the final.

"I think they’ve probably learnt more out of that, playing teams like Margate in the semi-final, than some of the development games they’ve played this year.

"I think it’s a very good competition and it’s one that we take very seriously.

"Any competition we enter we want to win, so it would be very nice (to win this one). Being at home as well, we’re looking forward to it."

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions although season-ticket holders can get in for half-price.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
