Gillingham loan defender Kortney Hause played a key role to help England under-20s to a Four-Nation triumph.

Hause made three appearances in the space of five days and also scored as England drew with Turkey on Monday evening.

The Wolves defender will now return for the Gills in time for the League 1 match against Rochdale on Saturday.

England, under the management of Aidy Boothroyd, were facing the Netherlands, Germany and Turkey in a mini tournament deigned to give potential future internationals vital experience of competition football.

Hause played 90 minutes in the opening game against Germany, playing alongside Tottenham’s Dominic Ball in defence.

England won 1-0 and Hause’s performance impressed Boothroyd.

He said: "Kortney Hause made his debut and he had an exceptional game. It’s a fantastic experience for him and the rest of the boys to play against such high quality opposition."

Two days later England faced the hosts Holland and despite being 2-1 down with three minutes left, they fought back to win 3-2.

Hause was a 61 minute substitute in that game, replacing Chelsea’s Fankaty Dabo.

England’s final game was against Turkey and Hause was in the starting line-up again. He scored his country’s only goal in a 1-1 draw, which was enough for them to win the competition.

Hause is on loan with the Gills until January 4.
