Gillingham boss Steve Lovell hopeful Callum Reilly makes quick recovery after injuring hamstring in defeat at Bradford

Callum Reilly limped off at Bradford but the early signs are that his injury isn’t too serious.

Gillingham boss Steve Lovell, speaking after the game, was optimistic after bringing the player off before there was any serious damage done.

Lovell said: “It was a tight hamstring and he felt that had he made another run it could have gone.

“I don’t think it was as bad as first thought.”

Reilly started the game as left-back, with regular full-back Bradley Garmston instead utilised in an attacking role.

“I thought Bradley did great on the left wing,” said the Gills boss.

“He looked a threat everytime he got the ball. He put in some great crosses and he did a good job."

Conor Wilkinson started the afternoon upfront, in place of Tom Eaves.

“Conor led the line well,” Lovell commented.

“He had a really good game. The only thing missing from Conor was a goal. Perhaps he should have scored with his header at the far post.”

Eaves came on later in the match, with a positive reaction, making a rare start from the bench.

Asked about his impact, Lovell said: “I didn’t expect anything less. He is going through a bit of a lean spell but he came on and I thought he and Conor linked up well together. There is food for thought in that for the future.”
