Gillingham have replaced departed midfielder Josh Wright on transfer deadline day.

Twenty-year-old Sean Clare has joined on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

His loan deal from the Championship side is until January 3.

Boss Ady Pennock said: "I’m really pleased to have got Sean on board, he is a midfielder who isn’t shy of taking people on and is different to the other players we have in the building.

“Myself and the staff are looking forward to working with him.”

Pennock was keen to add to the squad and that was made easier, financially, following the mutual termination of Josh Wright's contract.

Clare has previously had loan spells at Bury and Accrington Stanley. He has yet to make an appearance for his parent club.
