Gills opened their home League 1 campaign against last Tuesday's Capital One Cup opponents Yeovil. However, Josh Hare's afternoon lasted just 10 minutes after a head injury. New Gills keeper Stephen Bywater made a good impression on his debut, saving Kieffer Moore's first-half penalty. Celebrations after Joe Martin takes a break from defensive duties to open the scoring in the 35th minute. Aaron Morris steps up the pressure to win the ball back in midfield. Gills get the chance to make it 2-0 10 minutes into the second half after Nathan Smith fouls Aaron Morris, but Danny Kedwell's effort is saved by Chris Weale... ...but Kedwell converts at the second attempt from the rebound. Kortney Hause gets stuck in as Gills clear their lines. Gills skipper Doug Loft prepares to challenge. Jake Hessenthaler gives chase as Nathan Smith heads towards the Gills goal. Martin's match ends early when he suffers a knee injury with three minutes to go.
