Gillingham have been drawn at home to Leyton Orient in the area semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The two teams will face each other for a place in the area final, just over three weeks after they meet in the League 1 clash at Priestfield.

Orient head to Gillingham today (Saturday).

The Gills managed to avoid Bristol City, the League 1 leaders, who recently knocked them out of the FA Cup.

Bristol City will play Coventry City at home in the other southern section semi-final.

Peter Taylor’s men have reached the area last four after wins over Stevenage, Colchester and Crawley Town, all away from home.

Winners of the semi finals, to be played on the week commencing December 8, will progress to a two-legged area final. The winners of that will meet the northern champions at Wembley.

The northern draw sees Doncaster or Notts County face Oldham or Preston, while Tranmere play Walsall.
