Gillingham chairman Paul Scally is keen to bolster the club's finances with season ticket sales

Gillingham have unveiled their prices for a new two-year season ticket.

Fans can watch the Gills for the next two years in the Rainham End from £700.

Gills chairman Paul Scally is hoping extra revenue raised will help the club’s finances as they fund their “staggering” legal costs for suing former caterers for breach of agreement.

Centerplate walked out on the Gills two years ago and the club are hoping to win back over £2m in compensation.

After announcing the new season ticket pricing, which have risen by £10, Mr Scally said: “The coming months are extremely important for the future of the club.

“We’re continuing to make great progress with our ambitious relocation plans, however, the costs involving the High Court case…are staggering.

“Therefore, all the money raised from the two-year season ticket sales will provide an invaluable boost to the club’s cash flow at a crucial time.”

Purchasing the two-year ticket would save fans £50 over the duration.

Season tickets are being sold now, regardless of what division the Gills will be playing in next season. They are currently three points above the League 1 relegation zone with six games left.

The club are offering a discount on all tickets purchased up to April 21.

Adult season tickets in the Rainham End cost £375 (£400 from April 24). In the Medway Stand the price starts at £380 (£405) and in the Gordon Road Stand the cheapest seat for the season is £340 (£365).

Matchday admission has been frozen at £22 in most areas of the ground, rising to £24 on the day of the match.

A cheaper under-18 ticket in all areas will now cost £7 when purchased in advance. Under-18 season tickets cost £140 (£160) in all areas while over-65s pay as low as £295 (£315) in the Gordon Road Stand, £335 (£355) in the Rainham End and from £330 (£355) in the Medway Stand.

In an additional move to attract young fans, full paying adults can claim a free ticket for an under-12 for each match, when purchasing a single ticket.

Last season’s under-12 season ticket is no longer available, however. Fans were able to pay as little as £35, when purchased early, rising to £50 at full cost for the season.

Gillingham have increased prices for fans in the uncovered Brian Moore Stand. Adults could watch the Gills this season for as low as £10.

From next season adult tickets will cost £20 pre-match, rising to £22 on the day of the game.

Some of Gillingham’s League 1 rivals have also started selling season tickets for the 2017/18 campaign.

Rochdale’s season tickets reduce in price with the more they sell, starting at £250 for the season, dropping to just £110 if more than 4,000 make a purchase.

Bradford City – who are chasing promotion in League 1 – have frozen season ticket prices at £149, even if they are playing Championship football next season. They attract around 18,000 fans for home games.

Charlton Athletic are charging adults as little as £175 to watch them for the whole of next season, rising to £500 for their most expensive ticket.
