Gillingham have bolstered their defensive options with the loan signing of Adam Chicksen.

The 24-year-old joins from Championship side Brighton for a month.

Peter Taylor’s Gillingham have been left short of left-back options due to the suspension of Joe Martin.

He was sent off in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over Crawley Town.

Taylor is also without left-sided Kortney Hause, who is on international duty with England’s under-20 side.

Chicksen is set to make his Gills debut on Saturday against Leyton Orient. He will be available up to and including the game against Doncaster Rovers on December 13.

Gills’ new signing started his career at MK Dons, making 73 league appearances for his hometown club, before moving to Brighton in the summer of 2013.

He has made eight appearances for Brighton this season. Chicksen had a brief spell on loan with Saturday's opponents Orient in January 2012, making three appearances.
