Gillingham sign Birmingham City full-back Amari'i Bell on loan for the rest of the season

Gillingham have signed Birmingham City full-back Amari'i Bell on loan for the rest of the season.

The Gills needed to bring in defensive reinforcements after Joe Martin was ruled out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury during the 3-0 midweek defeat at Chesterfield.

With former loan full-back Bradley Garmston injured, it left the Gills without a recognised left-back ahead of Saturday's clash with Colchester at Priestfield.

Bell has made just one league appearance for Birmingham but spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at League 1 Swindon, where he played 11 times.

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh said: "He’s a good up and coming player, he played in a very good Swindon side and acquitted himself very well there.

"I’m delighted Birmingham have allowed for Amari’i to join us until the end of the season and will fit straight into that left back berth."
