Callum Davies faces several months on the sidelines.

The young Gillingham defender will undergo an operation on his ankle early next week.

Davies’ loan spell with Conference Premier Dover Athletic has ended and he could now be out until mid-April.

“He is going to be out for at least three or four months,” revealed Gills boss Peter Taylor.

Davies hobbled out of Dover’s FA Cup match against Cheltenham, in what was his third appearance for the club.

But the injury was first sustained during Gillingham’s 3-0 defeat against Scunthorpe United on October 11.

“It has been real bad luck for him,” said Taylor.
