Elliott List's breakthrough goal could be just the start, says Gillingham boss Steve Lovell

Elliott List scored his first senior goal on Saturday and boss Steve Lovell hopes it’s the first of many.

It was List’s 27th appearance of the season, coming off the bench to net Gills’ stoppage-time equaliser at Bristol Rovers.

“I am pleased for Elliott,” said the manager, who has regularly included List in his squad since taking over.

“He is a very good young prospect.

“When we took over in October he played the first half a dozen games and did very well. We took him out because he lost a little bit of form and he wasn’t scoring but doing a good job.

“I said to him (on Saturday), that is probably the most important goal he will score and not just because of what it meant to us, but for him to get off the mark and that feeling you get when you score.

“Hopefully he will have a lot more feelings like that for us.”

List, 20, is one of several players who are out of contract this summer.
