Lordswood skipper Linden Lockhart thinks batsman Sean Dickson will be in the Kent 1st XI sooner rather than later

South African Sean Dickson turned on the quality for Lordswood but might not be sticking around long.

The 23-year-old has been in scintillating form for Kent’s 2nd XI and last Saturday got his first taste of the Kent League.

He arrived with a reputation and didn’t disappoint, hitting 76 in Lords’ 88-run victory over Bexley.

Lordswood skipper Linden Lockhart opened the batting with the Johannesburg-born newcomer and liked what he saw.

He said: “The boys who have played with and against him said he was a real player. He came here with a big reputation.

“He certainly showed why he has that reputation and he’s a lovely bloke as well.

“With the way he is scoring for Kent 2nds, it won’t be long before he gets called up to the 1sts, so every game for us is a bonus.

“He’s a top class cricketer and he’s been scoring a ridiculous amount of 100s.”

Dickson began the season playing in the East Anglian Premier League but hopes to end it in the LV= County Championship.

He has previously played First Class and List A cricket for Northerns in South Africa and made his mark for Kent in May by hitting 135 and 65 in a trial game against a strong Yorkshire XI which included England ODI bowler Liam Plunkett.

Dickson signed a deal at Kent until September 2016 earlier this month and after scoring seven centuries in three forms of the game for the 2nd XI – including four in the last five games – the clamour to hand him his first team debut has grown.
