Gillingham keeper Glenn Morris believes promotion has to be the aim next season.

A mid-table finish and a positive end to the 2014/15 season has filled everyone with confidence for the new campaign.

Morris knows League 1 will be tough but sees no point in settling for mediocrity.

He said: "Finishing 12th might add expectations on us but we know what the squad is capable of.

"We didn’t get off to the best of starts last season and know if we can start well and play how we can do, then we can definitely finish higher than 12th.

"The play-offs aren’t out of reach and if we don’t aim as high as possible, then what are we doing? There is no point even trying.

"I am sure promotion will definitely be the aim."
