Invicta Dynamos host league newcomers Oxford City Stars in their season opener at Silver Blades on Saturday - and coach Kevin Parrish knows the South 2 champions won’t be pushovers.

He said: “They are on a high having rolled into the league after winning the one below.

“They’ve got a good coach and will be competitive. They are not used to losing and will come here battling to take a win and spoil the show for us. We need to be ready.”

On Sunday Mos travel to Bracknell Hornets.

Parrish has had a busy summer recruiting himself, putting together a roster that can challenge at the top of the National Ice Hockey League South Division 1.

Parrish said: “We’ve got more strength in depth than last year and just one forward away now. The main thing is that we retained most of the guys from last year.”

Among those staying on is Andy Smith, who heads into the season with 945 points from 374 games in Mos colours.

Parrish said: “He is going for 1,000 points and if he gets it that’s going to be a massive achievement.”

Among the new faces this season is player/coach Greg Chambers, a former Elite League champion, EPL champion and Great Britain international.
