The 28-year-old fights at York Hall in Bethnal Green tomorrow (Saturday) and has another date at the iconic boxing venue lined up in July. After that he’s hoping for a title showdown in his own backyard.

Dingsdale, whose last fight was in Cleethorpes for the English lightweight title, said: “All of my title fights have been on the road, in the away corner. If I can keep winning then I’ve been promised one in the home corner.

“I thought I won my last fight and everyone supporting me did as well. If I had been in the home corner I would have got the decision but it went to the home boy.”

The fight in March was awarded to Kevin Hooper, on points.

Prior to that Dingsdale went to Liverpool to fight scouser Derry Mathews for the WBA Continental title and Portsmouth to meet Floyd Moore, beating the home fight to claim the Southern Area crown.

He has previously had fights in Doncaster, Sussex and Essex but hopes to make York Hall is home from home.

Goodwin’s team have already helped Dingsdale’s stablemate Johnny Garton get his career on track, guiding him to the Southern Area title in the welterweight division before then winning the English title last Saturday.

Dingsdale was there to watch. He said: “They have helped him out and hopefully the same can happen to me.

“I have just got to get back to winning ways now. I like it at York Hall, it’s the home of British boxing and the atmosphere there is great. It’s a proper old school venue.”

Awaiting Dingsdale this weekend is Slovakian Csaba Bolcskei in what is a scheduled six round bout.

He said: “He looks tough from what I have seen of him but I have got to be beating kids like that. I will go there and do a job.”
