Reading loan striker Dominic Samuel means business for Gillingham when he faces old club Coventry City

Dominic Samuel is heading back to his old club and he means business.

Gillingham’s new loan striker hit six goals in 13 games for Coventry while on loan at the Ricoh Arena last season.

His goals helped to keep the Sky Blues in League 1 but he’ll be going all out on Saturday to prevent them from taking Gillingham’s place at the top of the table.

“This is business time and I’m not going there just to see all my old friends,” said the 21-year-old Reading striker.

“It’s a game of football and we’re going there to get three points and stay top of the table.

“I know the majority of the team and the manager and it will be weird going back. It’s not going to be anything personal, it’s just business on Saturday and I’m not going to hold back.

“It’s a game where both teams are fighting for first place and I’m with Gillingham. I will be fighting for them and doing well for them.

“It is a competitive sport and it’s us and them. Me, I’m a winner, I always like to win and I’m going to take everything I can into Saturday’s game.

“The boys are raring to go, it’s first against second and it’s what football is all about. You want a challenge and you want to see how far you can push yourself against another good team.”
