Steve Waggott has been announced as Gillingham’s new chief executive officer.

The former Charlton and Coventry CEO will assist chairman Paul Scally in the running of the club.

Mr Scally, revealing the news at today’s game against Swindon, said: “Steve will be responsible for all day to day matters.

“(He will take) some of the mounting pressure off me personally given the work I have to do on a legal and strategic matters at the moment.”

Waggott was with Coventry City up until November, leaving the club after four years. He was previously at Charlton.
