Take Heart charity auction includes once in a lifetime lots with Gillingham

The chance to train with the Gills, play at Priestfield and travel with the squad are all up for grabs.

Those special prizes are among over 50 that are being offered during a live auction, with aims to raise funds for the club's official charity, Take Heart Mercy Mission.

An auction has already begun and continues until 11pm on Saturday night, closing after bids have been received during the charity fundraising ball which takes place at Priestfield that evening.

Take Heart hope to raise enough funds to pay for the next mission, in September, where up to 22 operations will be taking place over a seven day period on critically sick children.

The charity has been carrying out missions to Galle, Sir Lanka for over 13 years in which time around 260 surgeries have taken place, all free of charge to the patients and their families.

Among the most popular lot is an away trip with the Gillingham first team, staying with the players in their hotel, dining with the squad and joining the directors in the boardroom for the game itself.

There is a chance to play a game at Priestfield, using the first team changing rooms and facilities, while an opportunity for a guest and three friends to train with the team is also on offer.

Last season’s signed Gills shirt is also up for auction, as are two tickets to next season’s FA Cup final.

Not all of the lots are Gills related, with matches at Chelsea and West Ham, a trip to the races, flying lessons, tea at parliament and even a holiday to a private Caribbean island among the various options to bid on.

Gills chairman Paul Scally had a life-saving heart operation himself last year and thanked the charity's paediatric heart specialist Conal Austin for saving his life. Click here to read the story.
