Gillingham boss Peter Taylor believes he will have plenty of options if he needs to replace Danny Kedwell.

The four-goal striker has been struggling with a knee injury and could be out for several weeks.

And should Taylor need a replacement, chairman Paul Scally has already given him the go-ahead to bring someone in.

Taylor said: “The chairman, when we spoke about Keds possibly being out for this time, said, keep looking, let’s be ready. He knows the score.

“I have got people in mind but it doesn’t mean I am going to act straight away. I will definitely wait for that phone to ring because it will ring.

“I will have a million phone calls from agents. I have no doubt. The agents are on the ball, that’s why I don’t steam into it."

Kedwell trained on Tuesday and the club were assessing him ahead of Saturday's trip to Oldham to see what action they will take.

Should he react to the injury, he will undergo a “tidy up” of the problematic knee which would rule him out for four to six weeks. If there is no problem, then he could return.
