Gillingham won’t be in the market for a new striker while Danny Kedwell recovers from a knee op.

On Tuesday, Kedwell underwent an operation on his knee, to scrape away cartilage.

He will now be out for around a month.

Kedwell has already missed the last four league games and looks set to miss another four.

But boss Peter Taylor, who could turn to the loan market, is confident with the players he has at his disposal.

Taylor said: “If (the recovery) goes well he could be out for three weeks but he will be doing a lot of work. I won’t be bringing anyone in at the moment.

“I have Antonio German and Brennan Dickenson who can do that and I have Luke Norris and Aaron Millbank. At the moment I am alright.”

Kedwell started the season with a goal in each of the first four league games. But he picked up a knock in the game against Crewe, leading to an examination of the knee and the decision to act.

Tweeting after Tuesday’s game, Kedwell said: “Well done boys buzzing for you all. Bring on sat. Up the football league we go!!!”

Taylor did, however, say last week that he would probably receive plenty of calls if he was to be without Kedwell for a period, so could still receive some tempting options which he could choose to take.
