Kortney Hause made his Wolves debut on Saturday and Gills boss Peter Taylor was one of the first to congratulate him.

The 19-year-old left-sided defender made 17 appearances on loan for Gillingham before being recalled at the end of November.

During his time with Gillingham, Hause won a place in the England under-20 team.

At the weekend he made his first Wolves appearance, playing 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

“I text him Saturday night and he text back straight away,” said a delighted Gills manager.

“I was over the moon because we had a great result and I text Kortney to say, ‘now you are in it, stay in it’. I was really pleased for him.

“They also played two young fullbacks including Dominic Iorfa, who I was always interested in. He played against us in the last game of the season for Shrewsbury.

“It is nice for Wolves, they have two young 6’2 monster athletes playing in the first team, lovely.”

Wolves also now have the addition of Austrian Georg Margreitter in their ranks. He ended a loan spell with Chesterfield this week, ahead of their League 1 visit to Priestfield on Saturday.

The Gills have made full use of the loan system this season, to good effect.

On Tuesday, QPR sent a member of their backroom team to Gillingham to assess loanees Michael Doughty and Max Ehmer.

“They came see what we are doing with Michael and Max and it’s nice that we have that good relationship,” said Taylor.

“We always send DVDs to the clubs when we have their players and it is up to us to make sure the relationship stays good because there could be more players that we want later on.

“The loan thing for us, and the JPT, has turned out to be two good things for us this year.”
