The Shouting Men: Gillingham defender Gavin Hoyte writes exclusively for the KM Group

In times like this we need to keep our heads up and carry on going.

Eventually, the results will start coming for us. What didn’t help us on Saturday was going 1-0 down after three minutes but we pushed and created a lot of chances. We were just unfortunate not to get one.

Maybe we could have done a bit better in the final third but we just have to look at the positives.

Although things aren’t going for us, everyone is keeping in high spirits and working hard in training every day.

Saturday we have an exciting FA Cup game to look forward to against Bristol City.

And for me it would be great to get one over on them after they knocked my former side Dagenham out of the Cup last season.

We lost 3-0 but we did well against a side from the league above.

We let in three goals, which wasn’t the best but two of those goals came right near the end and we were pretty happy with how we played.

City will come here sitting top of the league and doing well. But it could be a big upset and it could go for us.

I’ve enjoyed good times in the Cup before and remember when I was at Watford playing Chelsea.

We lost 3-1 but were 1-0 up at half-time and doing well. That is a big highlight for me and it was great to be up against players like Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou and Ashley Cole.

The Cup gives us the chance to play top sides and go to places like the Emirates or Old Trafford.

I have been lucky enough to have played at the Emirates a few times while at Arsenal. I played three games in the Carling Cup and one in the Premier League. It’s a great experience playing in packed out stadiums.
