It has been an amazing season so far and the way it is going, it could definitely be one to remember. It feels great to be in the thick of it.

I was at Cardiff when we got to the Championship play-off final in 2010, losing to Blackpool, but I wasn’t involved - I was in the stand.

It was a special place to be around at the time but it’s an even better feeling now that I am playing in the team.

Everyone here is just constantly happy. It has been reiterated in interviews with the other players and staff but genuinely everyone gets on and the dynamics of the team in the dressing room are good.

It wasn’t the greatest of performances from us Saturday, quality-wise but the conditions weren’t great and Barnsley were a good team, coming off the back of seven wins.

The boys came through it, though, and it was a well-earned three points.

I only found out the morning of the game that I would be playing right-back because we thought Ryan Jackson was going to be OK.

Jacko missed the game with a knee concern and it is an area I have experienced before. You can’t take a risk.

I had a bad knee injury a few years ago and when people do get the same injuries as yourself, you can relate to it and feel their pain.

I know George Williams, who has just signed, had the same injury as myself and he hasn’t played a lot of games since. It will be good to talk to him about it. It might benefit him listening to what I went through.

The rehab is important and without it you wouldn’t be coming back.

This season I have played a lot of games and am happy with the way the season has gone.

Sometimes a lot of work goes unnoticed because I am not grabbing goals or making goal-line challenges, but I like to think I do put in a shift every time I play.

I am a team player and do what is asked of me. Maybe there are things I could brush up on, like trying to get into the box more, but that is not me.

The gaffer is happy, the boys are happy, I am happy and hopefully the fans watching are happy.
