Castle Concerts rock Rochester

From
From Rule Britannia to the hits of McFly, Rochester rocked to
the sounds of the Castle Concerts.
Thousands of people turned up to see the four concerts, turning
them into another resounding hit.
Even the rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the audiences
who had turned up determined to have a thoroughly good
time.
Members of the audience turned up in sixties and seventies fancy
dress to watch The Counterfeit Stones band perform many of the hits
from The Rolling Stones’ catalogue.
The show was supported by comedian Adrian Edmondson and his band
The Bad Shepherds.
On Thursday night, it was Medway’s own music maestro Jools
Holland’s turn to entertain the crowds.
The boogie-woogie man, who was joined by guitarist Dave Edmunds and
vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, was forced to perform
his final two songs earlier than anticipated because of a
thunderstorm, but the crowds still walked away happy.
The Castle Gardens were full of screaming fans on
Friday as boy band McFly took to the stage.
The audience got soaked as they waited for the lads to appear but
as soon as McFly (Dougie Poynter, pictured) struck their first
chords, the rain stopped and everyone was up on their feet dancing.
The boys performed their latest tracks, as well as old favourites
such as All About You and Obviously.
In keeping with tradition, the Castle Proms ended the concert
series on Saturday.
The crowds waved their Union Jack flags as The Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra performed the usual favourites, including Rule Britannia
and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The evening ended with a
fireworks display.
Pictures from the Castle Concerts will be appearing in
the Monday and Friday editions of the Medway Messenger this
week.
