Police hunt thug over Rochester street attack

By Lynn Cox

A thug is being hunted by police after punching a man in the face in an unprovoked attack, which shattered his cheek bone.

Detectives say the attack happened near to the Casino Nightclub in Blue Boar Lane, Rochester, in the early hours of Saturday, July 17.

It happened at a time when lots of people would have been in the area and may have seen it happen.

A Gravesend man was trying to flag down a taxi when he was approached by the thug who punched him in the face.

The injured man, 25, was taken to hospital and had suffered a fractured cheekbone.

The assault happened at some point between 1am and 2am and the man police would like to speak to about it, was wearing a beige or peach coloured polo shirt.

He is also said to be of stocky build aged between 20 and 30.

DC Mark Silk said: "There were a lot of people out and about in that area of Rochester between these times, so I believe that someone must have seen the assault take place.

"I would like to hear from anyone who has information that may help to identify the man responsible for this unprovoked attack."

Call 01634 792 406 if you can help police, alternatively call CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.

That's why they named it The Casino Rooms; it's a gamble whether you'll go home in one piece from it.

and there was me thinking I was the only one that noticed .....

When this place was shut after the fire, there were virtually no incidents at all. Now look at the place! Someone I know has the misfortune of cleaning up after this place on a Sunday morning, and thinks nothing of all the blood that is in the vicinity of the Casino Rooms anymore. My daughter visited Rochester for a quiet drink with her friends in the evening while it was shut but doesn't go near the place with a bargepole now.

Either sort it properly, or shut it. The place is a health hazard!

I hope the man involved recovers from this, and I hope the owner of this bloodbath place sorts it out!
