Woman injured in Medway

Accident in Best Street, Chatham

Accident in Best Street, ChathamA woman has was injured after being hit by a car.

The woman, who has not been named, was struck by a black Hyundai in Best Street, Chatham, at about 12.45pm today.

The Kent Air Ambulance and land ambulance were called to the scene with police, and the air ambulance landed on Jacksons Field, in Rochester.

The air ambulance but was not used in the end as the woman, who was in her 40s, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The woman's in injuries are no longer thought to be life-treatening.

Best Street and nearby Railway Street, close to the Tap N Tin pub were closed for several hours and a diversion has been put in place.

Nobody else was hurt.

    glad to see by your photo that the police finally closed the road at the junction with Railway street...we drove right up to the accident totally unaware of anything before being turned around...common sense would have said for the traffic to have been diverted from the railway roundabout...
