Robbers wearing balaclavas made off with hundreds of pounds
after targeting a newsagent last night (Wednesday).
The Forbuoys shop, at the junction of Orion Road and Leander
Road, Rochester, was targeted by the thieves at 9.30pm.
Just under £400 was taken from the shop.
A police spokesman, said: “Two men wearing balaclavas pulled
down to hide their faces, went into the shop and demanded money.
One of the men forced open the till from which just under £400 in
cash was taken.
“The two men then ran out of the shop with the money in a white
plastic bag. It is believed they went along Pennant Road after
leaving the shop.”
The first man is about 5ft 7ins, of slim build, with local
accent, wearing a grey hooded top. He sounded quite young.
The second man was of similar height and build, also with a
local accent.
He was wearing white trainers, a grey hooded top over a
dark-coloured tracksuit with three white stripes down the
sleeve.
It is believed one of the men was armed.
A woman working at the newsagents said she was unable to
comment.
A spokeswoman for Martin McColl, which owns Forbuoys newsagents,
said: “It’s actually in the hands of police so we don’t give
statements at that time.”
