Baby rescued by firefighters in Strood after being locked in car

A baby had to be rescued by firefighters after being
locked in her mum's car by accident.
The baby girl, who has not been named, was in her mum’s Vauxhall
Corsa, parked in the Riverside car park, in Dock Road, Chatham on
Thursday.
Her mum had accidentally locked the keys in the car with her
daughter still inside.
Despite help from others in the car park, the mother, who is
from the Darnley Road area of Strood, was unable to get back into
the vehicle and called Kent Fire and Rescue Service for help.
A Maidstone crew, who were on cover at Medway fire station, were
called out at about 3.20pm to help out.
A spokesman said: "We tried to open the window with our tools
but it would not work.
"The baby began to get distressed so we decided to smash the
quarter-light window to get the car open.
"She was probably trapped for about 15 minutes, and mum was very
grateful to get her out."
