Supermarket staff have had briefings on health and safety after
a customer found a blue plaster stuck to a ready-cooked
chicken.
Marie Doyle bought the roasted poultry from Asda in Mill Way,
Sittingbourne.
But when she took it out of the bag to make Sunday dinner, she
discovered the dressing stuck to the underside of the
bird.
The 24-year-old, of Roper Close, Parkwood, said: "I was at home
with my mum Andrea so I took it in to show her and we were both
almost physically sick.
"We spoke to the manager of the rotisserie section and he
offered us a refund, another chicken and a £10 voucher.
"We took the refund, but we definitely didn't want another
chicken."
Miss Doyle, pictured right with mother Andrea, added: "We didn't
accept the voucher, either, as we said we wanted an investigation
into how the plaster got there.
"It wasn't about the money it was about making sure it didn't
happen to anyone else."
The chicken was left at the shop and Miss Doyle received a
further two calls the following week offering her a £10 voucher and
then a £50 one, neither of which she accepted.
An Asda spokesman said: "We're sorry Miss Doyle didn't have a
good experience with us this time; it certainly doesn't meet the
high standards we set ourselves.
"We do take this very seriously and have taken the necessary
measure to make sure this doesn't happen again.
"This includes re-briefing colleagues on health and safety
processes."
