Snow warning to thrillseekers in Rainham

Thrillseekers riding sledges being pulled along by cars were given a warning by police.

Several people were spoken to by officers after police received reports people were being towed along in the snow in the Northumberland Avenue area of Rainham.

Officers also warned four motorists following reports of cars doing hand brake turns at the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre car park, in Gillingham.

Over the weekend, the force received a number reports of weather related incidents across the county and officers issued words of advice to those causing anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, including people throwing snowballs at moving cars.

Ch Insp Matthew Kendall said: “Such behaviour is dangerous and not only risks injury to the drivers, but to members of the public too.

"I’d urge people having fun in the snow to stay safe and to avoid throwing snowballs at strangers, vehicles, or people’s homes.

“Without wishing to spoil anyone’s fun, it may be worth remembering that not everyone loves this weather so if you are throwing snowballs please be considerate of others and their property.”
