A drug addict has admitted stealing his own grandfather's war medals.
Brendan Cameron took the First and Second World War medals from the family home and stole a debit card belonging to his mother and grandmother in a joint account.
The 29-year-old spent £8,744 on it before he was caught by police.
Medway Magistrates' Court
Cameron was arrested after officers were called to his family home in Jenkins Dale, Chatham, on July 25 following reports several items of jewellery - including a diamond cluster ring - and the medals were missing.
The home was owned by his mother, who had recently died.
Cameron was charged with theft, fraud, possession of crack cocaine and heroin, both class A drugs, and possession of cannabis, a class B drug.
He pleaded guilty to all charges before magistrates in Medway. They sent Cameron to Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing.
A date for his hearing is to be set.
