Police were called to Blue Bell Hill cricket ground
The Kent FA is investigating after a 23-year-old man was given a caution for common assault following an incident at a children's football match.
Police were called to reports a 16-year-old boy had been assaulted at Blue Bell Hill cricket ground in Common Road on Sunday.
It is believed the incident was sparked when a stray ball was kicked onto the pitch during an under-14s game involving Meridian Girls.
Thanet Colts were waiting for their under-15s game to start at noon at the time.
The man was arrested, taken from the scene and later cautioned. The boy is said to have suffered bruising.
Adrian Arnold, chairman of Meridian Girls, said: "We are looking into it and are fully supportive of the FA.
"If someone has done something they shouldn't have done we want it stamped out of football.
"We have asked our members to tell us what they saw."
A Kent FA spokesman said the matter was currently under investigation and they would speak to all parties involved to determine what happened.
