Chatham Town manager Kevin Watson challenges under-performing players to improve

Kevin Watson has told under-performing Chatham players to raise their game.

Chats host fellow Ryman League Division 1 North strugglers AFC Sudbury on Saturday with boss Watson, pictured, calling on his 18th-placed side to start climbing the league.

He said: "I’m not shirking my responsibilities because if we’re not getting results then I’m not doing my job well enough but the players need to look at themselves.

"They’re under-performing at the moment and need to improve. It’s still relatively early days and a lot can change but at the moment we’re not where people at the club want to be.

"We’re realistic and know we’re not going to win the league but you at least want to be challenging in the top half of the table."

A win tomorrow would see Chats move six points clear of Sudbury. Centre-half Brad Potter is expected to start but Chats fans will have to wait to see striker Miles Cornwell in league action.

He suffered an injury setback playing for Bearsted last weekend, ironically in a bid to get match-fit after an ankle problem.
