Classic toy manufacturer Hornby has donated a wagonload of goodies for ten of this year’s KM Charity Team fundraisers – including a Scalextrix set, a Thomas the Tank Engine train set, model plane kits, and more.

A selection of gifts will be given away in the raffle at all four KM Big Quizzes, starting with the Medway heat being staged at St George’s hotel in Chatham, on Friday, March 9.

Hornby has been donating toys for the Big Quiz for six years - and KM Charity Team chief executive, Simon Dolby, says its generosity has been invaluable.

“Hornby’s support is one of the reasons the quiz has been so successful as an event and effective at raising funds for good causes,” he said.

“I don’t need to tell you how popular these toys are with people of all ages. For many of us they were a big part of our childhood – but it’s no secret that when we’re grown-up, we still relish the opportunity to play with them!”

The first KM Big Quiz of the year is being staged by the KM Charity Team at the St George Hotel, on New Road Avenue, from 7pm to 10.30pm.

The money raised will be split between the Medway Messenger newspaper's charity of the year Unit 1 Skatepark in Rochester and literacy services for children. Also getting a share will be a third good cause - chosen at random out of all charities submitting a quiz team - which could scoop up to £1,000!

Prizes will include a pair of Eurostar tickets for one lucky quiz-goer for correctly answering an on-the-spot trivia question within ten seconds.

Among the prizes for the overall winning team will be DFDS Seaways vouchers plus a place in the grand final at the end of the year.

The quiz is being supported by Barclays, which will match the money raised from the charity bar and raffle, Shepherd Neame, which is supplying the drinks for the bar for free, and Specsavers.

Teams can have up to eight people, and the ticket price includes a generous helping of snacks plus a bottle of wine and water for the table. You can save £10 on the price by using the discount code KMNEWS18 when booking at www.kmcharityteam.co.uk/booking
