A creative writing competition is offering primary school children the chance to become boss of a major theatre for a day.

Youngsters enter the competition by writing an imaginative piece about walking to school with their favourite superhero.
Youngsters enter the competition by writing an imaginative piece about walking to school with their favourite superhero.

The contest is being run by the KM Charity Team as part of the KM Year of Reading campaign.

To enter, youngsters must write about which superhero they would like to walk to school with and why. Entries should be handwritten on an activity sheet called ‘To infinity and beyond’ and sent in the post. Submissions will be judged on creativity, awareness of the benefits of green travel, and quality of handwriting.

The winner will enjoy a VIP behind the scenes look at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone, from rehearsals to production and marketing meetings, and possibly even taking in a show.

Entries must be received by Friday, June 30. To find out more, or download the activity sheet, go to kmcharityteam.co.uk/writingcomp

The KM Charity Team also runs green travel and literacy services for schools. To find out more, visit kmwalktoschool.co.uk or bustersbookclub.co.uk.
