Have an ice cream Sunday at the KM Charity Walk

Hungry walkers will be helping the homeless - and a hospice - when they tuck into a tasty treat at the end of the KM Charity Walk on Sunday, June 24.

Bonnington manufacturers Simply Ice Cream will be selling their award-winning desserts at the post-walk summer fayre at Mote House in Maidstone’s Mote Park – where there will also be a barbecue, cakes from Homemade With Love Cakes, drinks from Priscilla the Pimms Pod and live music from Kent band Acoustic Tones.

And the company will be donating all the profits it makes on the day to two Kent charities: homelessness charity Porchlight and the Pilgrims Hospice.

The walk starts and ends in the 450-acre park and wends its way through the pretty villages and peaceful fields just outside the county town.

“The fact that you can partner with the KM Charity Team to support a charity of your choice as well as them is a fantastic idea,” owner Sally Newall said.

“Our staff all walk regularly in their lunch hours – especially at the moment with all the bluebells in the woods.”

Walkers can choose either the five-mile route, or the ten-mile route which passes Leeds Castle – both mainly flat and suitable for anyone who’s averagely fit.

Children and dogs on leads are welcome – children go free as long you book, and have the option of doing a Kent Wildlife Trust nature trail along the route and craft activities in the park afterwards.

Walkers can raise funds for any charity - your sponsorship will be split 70/30 between the charity of your choice and the KM Charity Team. Everyone who raises £200 or more individually will go into a draw to win two Eurostar tickets.

Organiser Sophie Wallace said: “Even the hardiest walkers will probably feel like sitting down with a drink and a bite to eat after ten miles!

“Organising the fayre after the walk is the least we can do to thank everyone who takes part for their fantastic efforts.”

The KM Charity Walk is supported by Mote House, Berry Gardens, Glosrose Engineering, Maidstone Ramblers, Jarmans Solicitors, and the Woodstove Trading Company.
